Interesting conversation with an EA manager
« on: June 12, 2008, 12:23:13 pm »
Random stuff like this is what makes ULX worth it I guess. :P

I even behaved myself and didn't ask for an advanced copy of Spore.

[14:02] Gregg: Hi
[14:02] Gregg: sorry for the random add. Was wondering if you could help me though. I work for Electronic Arts and I am trying to get in touch with the owner of facepunch
[14:08] Megiddo: I'd be happy to help you if you can offer some proof that you are indeed working at EA
[14:09] Gregg: I registered an account on the forums under the name baker011 with my ea email account. gbaker@ea.com. I am community manager for EA UK so you will see EAUK baker011 all over forums.electronicarts.co.uk too
[14:09] Megiddo: Let me verify this
[14:10] Gregg: no probs
[14:12] Megiddo: Okay, well, garry is the owner of facepunch
[14:12] Megiddo: I can give you his MSN address if you'd like
[14:12] Megiddo: Though he's not online right now
[14:13] Gregg: could you give me his MSN and best contact email?
[14:13] Gregg: It would be a big help
[14:13] Megiddo: garrynewman@hotmail.com is his MSN address and I believe the email he prefers is garry@garry.tv
[14:14] Gregg: I dont know why but I recognise that name
[14:15] Gregg: could you let him know that I am adding him, just so he doesnt think its a random punter and ignore me
[14:15] Megiddo: Garry's mod is probably where you recognized his name
[14:15] Megiddo: I don't keep in regular contact with him, and like I said, he's offline at the moment anyways
[14:15] Megiddo: Can't help you there sorry.
[14:16] Gregg: so who is the most active admin right now?
[14:16] Megiddo: Garry is the sole owner of facepunch
[14:16] Megiddo: There are too many admins to list, and as far as the most active, I haven't a clue
[14:17] Gregg: ok, the reason I am contacting is about the whole spore ting and us taking the game to the Ross family, I have heard that apparently the exposure it has given facepunch with Harvey posting there has casued server load issues
[14:17] Gregg: Apparently an admin said that, I cant find a reference of it to see who said it though
[14:19] Megiddo: Haven't heard anything about that, but I'm not very active on facepunch these days
[14:20] Gregg: ah right, well I saw a Hezzy posting in that thread and noticed he was an admin, what is his connection to the site?
[14:20] Megiddo: He's a facepunch admin and I believe, though I could be wrong, a personal friend of Garry.
[14:21] Gregg: ok, well I will leave you to enjoy your night. Thanks for the help
[14:22] Megiddo: No problem

For Who? EA?
Or Garry? Jeez. Garry's always had server load issues. Every other day I go to peruse the latest mess called Facepunch, I have to wait to load the pages.
If it's EA, shame on them.
Upgrade.

Sound's like to me, they're going to ask Garry or another admin to remove something.
I've seen the post where the son posts pics. I'm betting they were supposed to be hush hush.

Oh, and Megiddo, how did you get picked out in Greg's drive-by... your profile on FP?
