Gmod engine emulation, anyone?
« on: July 09, 2008, 11:33:30 am »
Spbogie, JamminR,

Would either of you be interested in creating a GMod engine emulator in lua? This would be a mock up engine, for the purpose of testing lua scripts only. This would be fairly simple and modular, we could create stubs from the same function garry uses to create the wiki docs and fill it in as needed.

I think this would be handy for testing purposes. For example, we could create a test case for UPS of players joining and leaving and spawning random objects all over the place, maybe we'd be able to shake some more bugs out.

Eh? :P

I'm already lost with what you're describing... so, uh, I don't think so.

You want to write a engine in Lua only, that emulates Gmod lua engine?
If thats what you mean, I believe you have too much faith in my coding ability. :)

Wee I'm actually working on this. Gives me something to do at work while waiting for database connections. I made a git repo for it... http://github.com/Megiddo/ugmee

Git's pretty cool by the way. It's a shame we've locked ourselves into SVN as an "auto update amazing system".
