Bad smell....
« on: February 10, 2010, 03:53:37 pm »
Ok, so, I'm not throwing stones, by all means I'm not always legal in the Windows world, but when I see this
/index.php/topic,4510.0.html .. the paranoid just got home from WORK nature in me has a tendency to think "this sounds fishy...might be running Gmod pirated"

Might just be my paranoid after work lock down every hardware/software/firmware/casualware thing that moves and even doesn't self though.

I agree with you on this Jam. I have heard of a lot of things... but never of a STEAM ID breaking and showing as all 00000's. Unless this is something that has started happening in the last 7 months while I've not exactly been in the loop 200%.

But.. I don't really see what we can do? If he is... he's being smart about it and not coming out and admitting it, so for now we have to just assume that he is legitimately having an issue I would think.

Something else I just noticed.. he was saying making his local IP admin... so maybe he is hosting a lan server.. which would make since on a cracked version... you wouldn't be able to play (not easily) online with a pirated copy... *turns off conspiracy theorist mode*

Makes sense to me, I've never heard of the issue either... seems like something you'd want to take up with Steam support if it were actually happening.

[Edit - For comparison]
After starting his game in his condump, among all the mounting gcf stuff, he should have similiar to
Garry's Mod client.dll Build #074 [Feb  9 2010 16:16:18]
maxplayers set to 128
Steam config directory: <drive\path\steam\steamapps\<steamapps>\garrysmod\platform\config
Garry's Mod server.dll Build #074 [Feb  9 2010 16:16:10]
maxplayers set to 1

Is this why it smells funny on JamminR's side of the forum?

Soo, it's NOT me... it's Stephen304's "running a Source Gmod dedicated server over Wireless LAN" fault.
And to think all the skin I scrubbed off in so many showers scared so many children, parents and pets.
