Starting sometime Saturday morning, EST Timezone, 9/10, I'll be headed to a sandy beach about 6 hours away.
It's a wonderful beach I've been to before.
Almost same time last year actually, and, to the exact same condo complex, one floor higher than last unit.[LONG VERSION]Challenge for wife and I - This condo owner doesn't provide internet.
Rental place suggested location of a cafe, the golf course (part of resort), and 'searching for open wifi'.
Well, DUH on that last one.
Ideas -
As you might recall, my condo last year had a router. It was not open.
My two computers (my notebook, her netbook) I'm taking both have the (OLD) password saved.
Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll still have same password.
I am only one floor above the one last year.
If not, I'll scan for open.
I scanned while bored last year... I don't remember any open wifi within decent range. Though, we're on top floor this year..maybe bit more range, or perhaps a new condo owner set open wifi within range while we were away.
My wife remembers the password being a date combo. I thought I remember it being a RM# combo (which would be easier on owner and rental management)
I'm going to find a
saved wireless password revealer and see what it is. If it's changed from last year, perhaps I'll figure out new.
Social engineering
Nice way - get to know folks below us - ask to piggy back.
Not so nice/not condoned - get to know folks name, call using cell, act as them and say 'hey, were in rm#-below-#-us-#, lost password card... what's the PW again?... hope that reservation desk has no call-back-number-on-reservation verification system.
