How to set up cantarget?
« on: November 01, 2014, 07:52:28 pm »
I have already read a post on this, but I am still VERY confused on how setcangrouptarget works.

Here would be my list of ranks, the first one being the lowest, the last one being the highest.
user - We just ignore this rank.
Guest - target Guest
Member - target Member and everyone up
Trusted - target Trusted and everyone up
Awesome - target Awesome and everyone up
Respected - target Respected and everyone up
Trial Moderator - should be able to target amongst themselves and everyone up
Moderator - same with tmod
Admin - same with mod
Superadmin - we just ignore this rank
Owner - should be able to target EVERYONE

My Trial Moderators are picking up me (the owner) so I want to know how to fix it.

If someone could write me out a list on the commands to put in for each group that would be helpful.

Hello ajzima32,
In order to do this you need to do !menu and go to the groups tab. Then manage groups.
Click on the group and do type in to "Can Target"
%admin, %user, %nextgroup, %nextgroup, %nextgroup, %nextgroup, %nextgroup

Then the group has rights to do commands and I guess physgun too on those groups.

Assuming you have your inheritances set up properly, this is the cantarget for your server:

REPLACE THE USERGROUPS WITH YOUR PROPER NAMES, I'M ONLY GUESSING YOUR USERGROUPS.
Don't type in the text I put in brackets, they're to show inheritances.
So to recap: Add to the cantarget box in the ULX Group Management the text in ""

Code: Lua
  1. Guest - "!%member"
  2. Member - "!%trusted" (Inherits from guest)
  3. Trusted - "!%awesome" (Inherits from member)
  4. Awesome - "!%respected" (Inherits from trusted)
  5. Respected - "!%trialmoderator" (Inherits from awesome)
  6. Trial Moderator - "!%moderator" (Inherits from respected)
  7. Moderator - "!%admin" (Inherits from trialmoderator)
  8. Admin - "!%owner" (Inherits from moderator)
  9. Owner - "*" (Inherits from Admin)

You REALLY shouldn't ignore superadmin...but whatever..

Once you get to know me, you'll find you'll have never met me at all.

Though you mentioned reading something, you didn't mention which one.
We strongly suggest reading over the thread of our FAQ:
Exactly how does can_target work?
There's also a link to another good forum discussion few posts in to it.
I myself learned quite a bit from both conversations after Megiddo switched ULX 3 (I think) to using those methods rather than immunity.
