Cleaned up MOVED:
« on: April 29, 2016, 06:11:46 pm »
For any of you that pay attention to the moderator logs, don't panic. I've not been hacked, nor did I decide to delete everything randomly.
I went to the General Help and Support index and realized it seemed that half the first page were recent topics that had been moved due to not really belonging there.
So, did some spring cleaning, searched for "MOVED:" and deleted majority of the threads that started with that.

Odd.. those threads are supposed to auto clean themselves up.

I wasn't aware of that, nor have I ever noticed it occurring.
I didn't really pay much attention to the dates, but, think some went back reasonably far.
I do know there's checkbox that we can uncheck when moving that says "create redirection" or something like that.
I usually leave it checked, because majority of the time most double post wondering why they got deleted.

I've not dug into it, but is there still an option for a hidden to everyone but us mods/admins "Trash" folder?
We'd delete stuff and it would go there.
Or did SMF 2 stop using it?
I think I remember it from SMF 1.x years ago.
Not seen it since.

You can still have a trash folder, but I didn't see any major benefit to it.

For the moved threads, there's an area under the admin settings to delete any moved threads that are over a month old. I used to run it every few weeks.
