Random invites - The ENEMY?

About once a week or two, I get a random Steam invite.
(I'm sure you social guys probably get 5-10... I LIKE hiding under this rock in my cave, thank-you-very-much)

Sometimes I can tell it's from a Ulysses community member, most times I can't.
I usually look at the steam user page real quick and then ignore.

Sometime recently, gurrazor invited me.

Steam says we have 3 friends in common.
I figure it's you 3 guys?

Any ideas why I'm invited all of a sudden?
Are they trying to spy? Are we spying on them?

(I'm joking re: spying, but am curious why it seems out of the blue)
I'm actually considering saying yes, if only to keep up steam ranking and all.

Ugh. I've considered cleaning house.
I've got Steam "friends" from years back that I'm sure I knew why I accepted at the time, likely due to BeastBuild or here, but, I've no idea why or who they are now.
So many like to change nicknames every few hours that even the recently used alias list doesn't help.

I've given up on all of that. I had someone contact me the other day that I'm sure I've spoken with in the past, but it's all lost in the muddle of many other Steam conversations (and nickname changes). At least my "old age" excuse is getting more valid every day.

I've been friends with Gurrazor for quite a while- friendly chap. We haven't talked much (it's been a while since we last spoke), but we did have a nice chat about Admin Mods and ServerGuard and all that. Not sure why he would suddenly add us all out of the blue. He's likely making a "comeback" to the Gmod community (I've noticed him post more on Facepunch recently), and likes having other high-profile Gmod community members on his Steam friends list, perhaps? But yeah, he's not an annoying 12 year old, so he's probably safe to have on your friends list.
